FAQs

How do I take my homeopathic remedy?

Before each dose, gently succuss (firmly tap) the remedy bottle against the palm of your hand. The number of succussions recommended in your prescription should be followed each time before dosing.

Unless otherwise directed, place the prescribed drops or pillules under your tongue. For babies and young children, the remedy can simply be placed into the mouth.

Allow liquid remedies to sit under the tongue for approximately 20 seconds before swallowing. Pillules should be left to dissolve naturally.

For best results, take your remedy at least 15 minutes away from food, drinks (other than water), toothpaste, and other remedies.

What is succussion?

Succussion is the process of firmly tapping the remedy bottle against the palm of your hand before each dose.

This gently activates the remedy and is an important part of your treatment. Always follow the number of succussions prescribed specifically for you.

What if I can’t feel the drops?

Don’t worry, this is very common.

If needed, alternate sides beneath your tongue (one drop on the left, one on the right) to help ensure the remedy is administered comfortably.

Can the dropper touch my mouth?

Please avoid allowing the glass dropper to touch your mouth or your child’s mouth.

Keeping the dropper clean helps maintain the integrity of your remedy.

How should I store my remedies?

Store your remedies in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, excessive heat, and strong electromagnetic sources such as Wi-Fi routers.

Refrigeration is perfectly acceptable but is not essential.

What if my symptoms temporarily worsen?

Occasionally, homeopathy may produce a mild, short-lived aggravation before improvement begins. This can be a normal part of the healing response.

If your symptoms continue to worsen, become concerning, or you experience new or unexpected symptoms, stop taking the remedy and contact Live Well Homeopathy. If you don’t already have a follow-up appointment booked, we recommend arranging one so your case can be reviewed.

What happens if I become sick while taking my remedy?

If you develop an acute illness while undergoing homeopathic preparation, simply pause your remedy until the acute illness has resolved.

During this time, you may use appropriate acute remedies to support your recovery.

Half-Glass Water Method

If you have been prescribed the Half-Glass Water Method, follow these steps:

  1. Succuss your remedy as prescribed.
  2. Add the prescribed number of drops to half a glass of water.
  3. Stir well with a clean teaspoon.
  4. Take ½ teaspoon of the water as your dose.
  5. Discard the remaining water after each dose.

Some treatment plans require an additional dilution into a second half-glass of water before taking the dose. Only do this if specifically instructed during your consultation.

Rapid or Acute Dosing

Acute dosing is used for rapidly developing symptoms such as injuries or sudden illnesses.

A typical acute dose consists of:

  • One dose every 15 minutes
  • Four doses over one hour

Once improvement begins, return to your normal dosing schedule unless advised otherwise.

Starting an acute remedy as early as possible often provides the best support.

Why did my cold improve and then stop responding?

Many acute illnesses, such as colds, flus, sore throats, and coughs change as they progress.

As your symptoms evolve, the most appropriate homeopathic remedy may also change. This doesn’t mean the original remedy was incorrect, it simply means your body has moved into a new stage of the illness.

If you’re unsure which remedy is most appropriate, we’re here to help.

When should I book a consultation?

If your symptoms are changing, you’re unsure about remedy selection or dosing, or your case becomes more complex, we recommend booking a short follow-up consultation.

While we’re always happy to answer brief questions via email, consultations provide the safest and most effective way to assess your symptoms and guide your progress.
